aaaAAAAHHH why is it 4:30am I want to keep working on this but SLEEP

Months ago, I drew a bunch of characters in a different style, and I decided just now that I like them enough to post them.

You might remember Rowan Burgess. This is before and after her life suddenly became very difficult. In the first image, she’s just reached a world called The Greylands and has fallen into despair due to losing everything she knew (including her glasses - they broke the first day she was there because some thugs tried to mug her).

In the second image, she makes her living my stealing and killing people. In the Greylands, magic is conducted through a ‘medium.’ They’re kind of like how the wizards in Harry Potter need to use wands, but a medium can be anything you can grasp easily in your hand. After using a baton for a while, Burgess turned to something more brutal when her mental state began to decline. The saws were modified herself, hence the narrow ends.

You might recognize this as Rowan Burgess! That curl of hers is a bit like a quail’s, so here she is as happy a quail-harpy.

We’re entering a contest together and they drew half of the first page of our introductory comic and it’s so good and my pages all look so lame by comparison, a.kshgalksdgjahsdha.

What is this shit. People, take a look at one of their panels:

The poses are fluid, their outfits detailed, and their personalities all-too apparent in their facial expressions. You probably didn’t even need any context to know the guy on the right (Lucien, their character) is one smug motherfucker, simply due to his hand gestures and how high he keeps his head when he laughs.

Not that great by comparison. My drawings are much stiffer and detail is minimal. Plus, it takes me much, much longer to draw because I fret over how smooth every line is. By the time I’d finished half a page, they’d already made two.

For the Marlisius reference sheet, a Rowan Burgess waist-deep in shade. Those two will be featuring in an OCT very soon! Burgess won’t actually be fighting, though, and will instead spend most of her time like that; slacking off in the shadows.

Governor Vuro, who hasn’t made many appearances on my deviantART in a while. She’s gone through some very significant changes, and when I get around to it, I’ll need to put up an up-to-date reference sheet.

BadEnd!Rowan Burgess (normal version here). In canon, Rowan Burgess will duel two very powerful magicians, and in the scrapped timeline, she murders one by mistake and becomes a fugitive. This leads to a numb, distrusting, hateful Burgess who lives only to find a way back home. The hat she’s wearing belonged to Vuro once, but after sticking a saw in her chest, BadEnd!Rowan took the hat as a trophy.

Marlisius Maestoso, Haizeworth’s resident court magician. He is one of the two aforementioned powerful magicians, but it is his partner who dies in the scrapped timeline. He is renowned for his ability and is a authority figure in the magical community.

Gilbert Beckett, Governor of Phoredigm. These are his casual clothes, which is the norm in his country. Did you know I can’t draw anthropomorphic rats?

And lastly, Jackal. He was once a Senturian mobster, but after rising above the massive power vacuum that befell Senturium when the Governor died, he became 2nd in command to the new Governor. He’s pretty boring in comparison to everyone else here.
